Singing Lessons

Acting and singing are very closely related so we’ll also look at performance techniques and how to interpret songs. For classical singers we’ll look at a range of composers from different styles. For modern singers we’ll help you find your vocal character and find songs which suit your range and ability.

Kerry explains and demonstrates everything clearly and is always happy for me to ask questions and ask for further demonstrations. Practice exercises are set throughout the lesson, relating to what has been covered through the lesson, giving me clear guidance on what to work on between lessons, and with a few challenges to encourage me to move forward. How much are the lessons?

30 mins £20

1 hour £35

Discount for a group booking of 5 or 10 lessons. Ideal for a gift for someone who you know will be a great singer/pianist! Email for details. Ten lessons £150/£300. Five lessons £80/£160.

Where do the lessons take place

At my flat in the City Centre of Leeds, Dock Street LS10. 5 mins walk from the train station, just over Leeds Bridge. Online lessons are available on zoom.

What ages do you teach?

All ages welcome. I’ve taught in all levels of education from primary to universities. Under 16’s will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Lessons for children focus on making learning fun and creating a solid foundation in technique through songs/pieces. For adults the focus is on what you want to achieve and creating a plan to get there.

How often would you recommend lessons?

The choice is yours, the lessons are flexible depending on your work/life commitments. Once a week is normal with breaks around holiday times, but you could also do once a fortnight for singing lessons which works just as well. Piano needs more practice in between lessons than singing lessons generally speaking! But everyone is different and we can discuss what works best for you. Theory lessons can be once a week or once a fortnight.

What times are lessons?

Mostly during the evenings and weekends. It’s good to keep the same regular time slot once you get one, this will help your learning in the long run. However I know people’s lives are busy so we can arrange around your schedule.

What happens if I have to cancel a lesson?

If you need to cancel a lesson within 48 hours you will be charged for it. This makes it fairer for all the students who might want a slot that you have booked.
